Linux DevOPS Engineer
Position Overview
The DevOPS Infrastructure Engineer will ensure the deployment, high availability, performance, and scalability of companys infrastructure in a 24/7 x 365 production environment. This position will be responsible for the automation of all system processes in both physical and cloud environments.
Core Responsibilities
* Responsible for implementation, maintenance, planning and capacity management of the production and development environments
* Build and maintain LAMP style websites in a highly scalable environment
* Update, maintain and scale a Puppet infrastructure to manage all aspects of the production environment
* Select and conduct Proof of Concept exercises on tools needed to support system processes or design and build custom sites and tools to support the infrastructure if none are available
* Work together with Support, Development and QA engineers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues
* Establish operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management
* Production deployment planning, testing and verification
* Assess utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture
* Available for 24x7 on-call support
Required skills:
* Minimum 5+ Years experience with Linux (Red Hat or Centos preferred)
* Minimum 3+ Years experience in system programming. (Bash, Python, Ruby, system level C polyglots are highly preferred)
* Virtualization platforms (VMWare, OpenStack, EC2, KVM, XEN)
* Configuration management tools (puppet or chef)
* Experience with Git or other DVCS (we want to see your github!)
* Ability to design and maintain deployment processes in large environments
* Writing and maintaining software build systems and supporting tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, Mock/rpmbuild)
* Building custom infrastructure support tools to automate production processes Qualified candidates will have experience with:
* Writing code to glue together various applications that were never meant to speak to each other to produce reliable automated solutions
* Middleware Software Jboss (Websphere, Weblogic acceptable) Apache, Tomcat
* Database Software SQL and/or NoSQL
* Using Virtualization APIs Amazon, Rackspace, KVM, XEN or VMWare preferred.
* Linux Infrastructure DNS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, NFS, DHCP, SSH
* Security Experience with 3 Tier Architectures, SAS70, PCI Compliance, Intrusion detection and security scanning.
* Ticketing systems- Atlassian Jira or similar
* Agile Development methodologies (we use sprints & kanban) Nice to have:
* Experience using monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti, and MRTG
* Experience with Open Source projects
