The Systems Engineering and Administration Manager is responsible for hands on and also for managing the Network, Helpdesk, Systems Administration and Mobile Support team which has responsibility for:  helpdesk support, network administration, server infrastructure and desktop configuration management and support, mobile platform support, IT inventory procurement and management and corporate telephony.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage configuration, administration, upgrade and maintenance of Corporate servers and related infrastructure
  • Responsible for system upgrades, implementation of administration and monitoring tool (e.g. Microsoft System Center Operations Manager   SCOM).
  • Research and resolve issues with internal systems as well as those hosted by service providers
  • Interact with our user-base (corporate and field employees) on an as needed basis regarding technology issues and escalations
  • Maintain uninterrupted production systems and a 99.9% or greater up time
  • Remain on-call for emergencies as part of an escalation schedule
  • Participate in meetings and provide technical assistance and interpretation to Executive Staff on issues affecting company-wide computer hardware, software, systems, and services.
  • Assist in implementing disaster recovery efforts.
  • Implement and maintain Information Security policies and procedures.
  • Manage corporate network configuration and firewalls.
  • Create and maintain Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Create and maintain corporate server infrastructure documentation (hardware, software).
  • Manage outsourced vendor relationships such as data center and communications providers.
  • Manage Wired and Wireless Carrier relationship
  • Manage helpdesk activity and performance to ensure quality, responsiveness, by prioritizing tickets, and help staff identify, diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in defining policies and procedures as they relate to these responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8+ years of hands on System Engineering and Administration, Networking or Data Center operation and support experience, preferably in a Corporate IT role for a mid to large size company.
  • Extensive experience in a primarily Microsoft environment
  • Sharepoint, VMWare, Hyper-V, Symantec Backup Exec, Microsoft SMS, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Windows Server 2008-2014 operating system.
  • Experience managing Active Directory.  Including experience with WINS, DHCP, IIS and DNS.
  • Administering a Cisco-centric network environment with responsibility for managing Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls and VPN.
  • Managing, monitoring and supporting production server, high-availability environment and SQL Server clusters.
  • Solid understanding of data communications, open systems technologies, and internetworking protocols including TCP/IP, FTP, PPP, HTTP, SNMP, SMTP.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery consistent system administration and documentation to operational team, including feedback on system performance and service
  • Strong understanding of hardware, security, and configuration management.
  • Direct involvement with 24/7/365 production environments.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills mixed with strong teamwork capability and flexibility.
  • Desired experience with Cisco Call Manager (CUCM).
  • Desired 2008/2012 MCSE certification (Server Infrastructure, Private Cloud, SharePoint)
  • Desired Hyper-Converged Storage (Nutanix).
