Job Description:

The Senior Software Developer provides technology leadership in the area of custom Java/J2EE development. The Senior Software Developer will focus on developing and delivering high quality enterprise applications, both as an individual contributor and as a part of a development team. He/she is responsible for creating clear and maintainable designs and code as well as reviewing the code and designs of team members and correcting if necessary. The Senior Software Developer is expected to participate in design and architecture discussions alongside a Technical Architect or Technical Delivery Leader (TDL), and to actively participate in estimation, task definition, implementation efforts and status updates. He/she is also expected to shepherd code that has been developed through the development process and lead the efforts of planning/migrating the code into production systems efficiently. The Senior Software Developer will be leading or participating in on-site project teams. This role requires excellent hands-on technical skills in Java/J2EE architecture and development. This role will work closely with key departmental, management and project stakeholders across the organization. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization is a key priority in this role. 

 

Requirements: 
  • BS or BA degree in a related field required, unless there is significant, relevant work experience 
  • Full understanding of Object Oriented Programming 
  • Full understanding of Jasper Reports version 3.X and 4.X 
  • Strong background in full lifecycle development using multiple platforms or languages 
  • Ability to interact with Management and Software Developers. 
  • Hands-on skills in Java/J2EE architecture and development. 
  • Ability to interact at a technical and non-technical level with Infrastructure, Network, Development, BA and QA teams. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years in developing Java applications. 
  • Experience in designing and developing software products. 
  • Solid understanding and hands-on skills in J2EE architecture and design patterns. 
  • Solid understanding and hands-on skills with JasperReports version 3.X and 4.X. 
  • Experience with advanced OOA/OOD techniques to design enterprise applications leveraging industry best practices. 
  • Experience in UML modeling and use case driven development 
  • Experience in current versions of JBoss application server. 
  • Experience with XML related technologies including XSLT and SOAP. 
  • Good understanding and experience in relational databases (Sybase, Oracle or SQL Server) 
  • Experience in integrating J2EE applications with legacy systems. 
  • Knowledge of popular open source frameworks 
  • Experience in security systems and frameworks (JAAS, LDAP) 
  • Full understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and Web Services 
  • Strong background in full lifecycle development using multiple platforms or languages 
  • Familiarity with internet protocols such as http(s), SOAP, XML over http/https 
  • System architecture and development experience in a high transaction/high availability systems 
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including facilitation and team leadership skills 
  • Must be comfortable working in ambiguous and/or stressful situations 
  • Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance 
  • Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks 
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team 
  • Sun Certified Java Programmer certification is desirable 

Responsibilities:  
  • Design, develop and maintain JasperReport based solutions for POS and Backoffice systems. 
  • Work with project managers and business analysts to develop and clarify in-depth technical requirements. 
  • Work with architects to establish technical soundness of the solutions. 
  • Use and improve the productivity of the development processes. 
  • Participate in design and architecture discussions. 
  • Work with management to estimate the level of effort, resource needs, and project duration. 
  • Enforce coding standards. 
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications and provide fixes in a timely manner
