Job Summary:

Responsible for payroll input, reporting, verification, and distribution. This is a highly sensitive position dealing with confidential information.

Major Job Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Prepare and verify payroll information
  • Reconcile, input and verify payroll data
  • Upload completed payroll data for processing
  • Processes wage support orders and garnishments
  • Receive, balance and distribute payroll reports
  • Answer questions pertaining to payroll information
  • Responsible for all file maintenance
  • Coordinate with Benefits Specialist on all file maintenance requests
  • Perform payroll audits as necessary
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions
  • Provides exceptional customer service support and resolves client issues and concerns.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with colleagues focused on partnership and common objectives
  • Collaborate with internal/external audit ensuring we are compliant at all times
  • Ability to partner with relevant parties to expedite process completion and resolve situations/escalations  
  • Accurately keys all payroll related data necessary to process payrolls timely by deadline
  • Exceptional understanding of, or strong willingness to learn, the Heartland Payroll system
  • Knowledgeable in accurately building accrual/PTO plans/Imports
  • Work effectively as part of a team for the greater good of the business, with a strong sense of urgency, punctuality, and reliability to meet internal and external targeted goals daily
  • Creative mindset to “ think outside the box” to improve process, culture, and meet objectives
  • Competent in completing prior quarter corrections
  • Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Qualifications/ Education Requirements:
  • Associate’ s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred with minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with payroll processing, timekeeping and HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of FLSA and state minimum wage requirements
  • CPP designation preferable
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel
  • Experienced with tax filing and handling tax notices
  • Competent in multi-state payrolls and local tax laws
