SUMMARY: The Oracle DBA will provide a high caliber database environment available to all business applications in portfolio.  The successful candidate will have expert level skills in relevant database technologies, understand business requirements and technical implementation of distributed services architectures.  A DBA must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with various teams to correctly deploy solutions that meet business requirements. The position requires significant experience supporting all aspects of the Oracle Hyperion EPM environment.  This individual will be supporting the business on a global and regional basis – implementing and integrating new instances of Hyperion functional capabilities, development, production support tasks, architecture, and planning/executing upgrades within a centralized Hyperion environment.
 
Depending on level of experience, the individual would also provide support of BI and database development in an Oracle and/or Microsoft database environment.

•  Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products
•  Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products
•  Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
•  Knowledge of the database design and implementation
•  Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
•  Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
•  Perform application tuning and performance monitoring
•  Support system monitoring and oversee daily and other periodic maintenance activities within the Hyperion environment.
•  Setup and maintain documentation and standards
•  Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required - query/problem/issue resolution and processes, resolving issues through root-cause problem analysis.
•  Ensure design specifications, all development and unit test plans are used and manage the functional change process Oracle applications.
•  Ensure proper change management, problem resolution, security management activities in support of the Hyperion EPM suite environment.
•  Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
•  Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
•  Patch Management and Version Control - develop and execute upgrades to new release or version levels
•  Act as liaison between Corporate/Regional finance groups and IT to resolve Hyperion application or other system related issues through completion.
•  Monitor the Hyperion financial suite of applications for optimal performance and availability – minimizing system outages and communicating downtime expectations to user community.
•  Works to understand client business functions and requirements, develops alternate solutions to meet those requirements, and when required, manages a small project team to implement client chosen solutions that require information services expertise.
•  At all times displays significant expertise in the use of all current programming skills, techniques, methodologies, tools and department or corporate standards utilized in the current software operating environments.
•  Performs routine to moderately complex analysis and design for various business applications.
•  Maintains customer acceptance by soliciting their involvement on designs, functionality, and testing.
•  Maintains communications with end-customers to ensure systems continually meet the customer’ s expectations.
•  Provides on a timely basis individual status reports for their supervisors.
•  Remains knowledgeable of current and new technology related to all aspects of information processing by researching technical materials, attending seminars and training classes, and consulting with personnel from other industries.
•  Plans and prepares technical reports, memoranda and instruction manuals relative to the establishment and functioning of complete operational systems.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required:   This position requires an individual with experience (minimum 3+ years) supporting the Oracle database environment and associated business applications.  The individual should have experience utilizing best practices for maintain an Oracle database environment.  Create and/or utilize design documents that contain business process flows, data models, user functional requirements and software design specifications.
 
Abilities/Skills – The individual should possess a high degree of business acumen of a financial reporting and analysis role, along with knowledge in the development, maintenance, application integration and enablement of the Hyperion suite of applications.  Individual must have the ability to understand concepts governing relational database structures (MS-SQL and Oracle), use of reporting/query tools, construct SQL statements, XML and other scripting languages.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
 
Required:   Bachelor’ s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience as an Oracle DBA in developing business applications for one or more areas of business, such as HRIS, payroll, manufacturing, supply chain, customer systems, etc.  Familiarity with Business Process Reengineering concepts and methods.  Familiarity with the Internet.
