Lead Release Management Engineer

Seeking a Technical Lead – Release Management, with solid expertise in Release Engineering/Configuration Management or Change Control Experience in Continuous Delivery/DevOps environments.

 

A successful candidate Must Have (3+) years Program/Project Management, deployment automation understanding and experience with systems such as uDeploy, JBoss ON, AnthillPro, etc. Experience and lifecycle and Workflow automation understanding and familiarity with engines such as ElectricCommander, OpenMake, etc.

 
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux Release Engineering role
  • Web server technologies (Websphere/JBoss  preferred)
  • Supporting Agile software development teams
  • Isolating build/deployment issues versus code/cfg/data issues
  • Infrastructure automation experience

 

System Specialist:
  • A leader in the design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems
  • Assess, define, implement, support  and continuously improve the Release Management Processes, procedures and standards using both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies across Java, Tibco and MF platforms
  • Define, implement and champion policies to significantly increase the efficiency of our release management process
  • Serves as the single point of contact for a release, driving multiple projects to a common release date
  • Execute audits of all packages pre-production to ensure successful deployment
  • Uses expertise and leadership skills to direct multiple cross-functional teams, resolve project issues and ensure project goals and requirements are met
  • Manage & Communicate project goals, schedule, status, risks/issues to all involved team members and stakeholders on a timely fashion

 

Key Accountabilities:
  • Takes the lead to develop the strategy and technical design for large work type 2 and 3 projects. Defines timelines and project plans; analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved
  • Leads the coding/configuration, testing, implementation and documentation of solution. Develops detailed design specifications
  • Performs complex applications programming activities. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and modifies complex applications programs
  • Establishes systems to monitor the operating efficiency of existing application systems and provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance.
  • Leads the resolution of customer inquiries
  • Serves as a coach and mentor to more junior developers. Delegates tasks as appropriate

 

Other duties as assigned
  • Leads the development phase of large work type 2 and work type 3 projects, making work assignments and holding staff accountable
  • Oversees the selection of tools and methodologies for projects
  • Commits to overall deliverables with customers and/or management
  • Provides recommendations on vendor selection. Negotiates terms and conditions with vendors
  • Supports the evaluation and recommendation of new technical directions and approaches to senior MST management

 

Skills Summary:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years Release Management Experience in Continuous Delivery/DevOps environment
  • 3+ years Release Engineering/Configuration Management or Change Control Experience in Continuous Delivery/DevOps environments
  • 3+ years Program/Project Management Experience
  • Experience implementing or using Continuous Delivery/DevOps methodologies
  • Lifecycle and Workflow automation understanding and familiarity with engines such as ElectricCommander, OpenMake, etc
  • Deployment automation understanding and experience with systems such as uDeploy, JBoss ON, AnthillPro, etc
  • Infrastructure automation experience
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux Release Engineering role, including

  • Evaluates the applicability of leading edge technologies and uses this information to significantly influence future business strategies for the area(s) supported
  • Brings technical and/or business systems knowledge from external sources and incorporates those ideas into IT
  • Understands changing business needs for supported area and recommends strategies for the future
  • Builds and maintains up-to-date knowledge about company and industry trends and strategy, and advises customers on approaches to optimize business success
  • Independently identifies, defines, directs, and performs analyses to resolve complex first-time project issues including the analysis of technical and economic feasibility of proposed systems solution
  • Designs projects with broad implications and significant risk for the business and/or the future architecture, delivering innovative changes and successfully addressing cross-technology and cross-platform issues
  • Can analyze complex business and competitive issues and discern their implications for systems support
  • Participates in the development of RFPs, RFIs
  • Provides input into the make-up of the project team for projects they lead or consult on
