Summary:

Gathers requirements, analyzes, and designs reports and automation processes for various regulatory and non-regulatory reports for Denver Health.  These reports include but are not limited to the CICP annual report, Medicare Cost report, the Primary Care Fund agreed upon procedures report, the monthly City prisoner care report and the Cash Receipts reconciliation report for the Accounting department.  Acts as an expert in business intelligence methodologies and processes. Works closely with members of the finance department in understanding their information needs and translating these requirements into refined easy to use information tools. Designs and implements financial reports as required.  Utilize Lawson and Axiom for system set-ups and financial reporting. Also, utilize EPIC data warehouse and reporting tools for financial reporting. 

 

Requirements:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field, or equivalent training in the area of database environments.  

 

Experience:  Typically,  3 years of technical experience working with relational databases developing and writing reports and business/clinical analysis experience for Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Knowledge of core Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing technologies including Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), OLAP, SharePoint, Excel Services. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret results of query analysis. Business analysis skills to identify business intelligence solution requirements by interviewing business users, analyzing processes/operations, establishing solution objectives, prototyping solution, and preparing specifications. Ability to write queries using T-SQL. Ability to create stored procedures, triggers, running queries, developing complex tables and joins, and data analysis. Ability to communicate effectively with finance team members, and manage financial systems and reporting tools. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals. 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and report development in response to requests from end users.
  • SQL Code documentation is in place and verifiable; changes and updates to codes are documented and have the applicable date of the change added. Determine and document if code still meets the reporting requirements.
  • Data is complete and accurate and agrees to supporting documentation.  Changes in data extraction methods are documented
  • Collaborates with users to ensure that work practices are as LEAN as possible, and produce complete, accurate and timely reports.  Communication is open and collaborative
  • Document what is being requested, indicate the data being pulled and identify what each code is pulling.
  • Meet reporting requirements deadlines and due dates.
  • QA reports and data before sending to requestor.
  • Reports are accurate and do not contain errors, and are complete
  • Monthly reports include: supporting month-end process and reporting, detailing and identifying variances, reports required for the City Operating agreement, reconciliations between data warehouse and source systems
  • Quarterly and annual reports include: financial audit requests, Cost report data, state and regulatory reports
  • Confirms Business Intelligence project outcomes by establishing standards, testing and quality assurance requirements, writing test cases, and performing quality testing.
  • Develop standard work for data / reports and include the following information:
  • Criteria tab for all reports to identify the purpose of the data pulled, high-level outline for report criteria and the SQL code used to create the report.
  • Validation tab to include data verified to other financial reports.
  • Check figures that tie data including any detail and summary data
  • QA reports and data before sending to the requestor and include self-review documentation. 
  • Reports are accurate and do not contain errors, and are complete.
  • Meets with business users to understand needs and requests. Gathers and documents requirements from business users.

  • Participates in modeling, designing, tuning, and testing appropriate back-end structures, tools, and solutions to meet business requirements
  • Testing should include self-review and QA checking before submitting report
  • Contributes to and participate in team events, conferences, and internal training.
